Cat & Mike | An outdoor, tipi wedding by a lake at Kailzie Gardens, Scottish Borders

An incredible day shared with Mike and Cat in the grounds of Kailzie Gardens. They held their ceremony in greenery laden tipis looking out over the valley with music and singing ringing out across the countryside. While guests enjoyed antipasti in the sun we headed into the lush walled garden for a couple of family photos and for Mike and Cat to enjoy some alone time (stalked by me) walking around in pools of sunlight enjoying the stunning surroundings of the greenhouses, sweet pea patches and mossy walls of the gardens.

Open-air speeches have got to be my favourite way of spending time talking and celebrating each other and the weather allowed for this to happen under a canopy of festoon lights on the hillside by the lake before sitting down in the tipi for a hog roast.
The celebrating went well into the evening with dancing spilling out all sides of the dance floor into the starlit night. It really was the type of gathering that I think everyone would want to be a part of.

Cat wore a dress made by her incredibly talented friend and bridesmaid Peggy and carried a ferny green bouquet by Rose and Ammi.

I took on the extra challenge of shooting this wedding primarily on 35mm film so scattered amongst this story are my film shots. You can tell them apart by the extra thick white border. I was so lucky to have the excellent Lianne Mackay there to shoot digital as a back up to make sure none of the day was missed.
